Directors from those countries who will participate in the Diamond Butterfly Award of the Eurasian Film Academy will receive awards not in dollars. This was announced on September 6 by director Nikita Mikhalkov during the session "Business Breakfast. Images of the Future" within the framework of the Eastern Economic Forum - 2025 (WEF-2025).

"I spoke with [Russian President] Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin] about this and agreed that we would not really want to be tied to the dollar. Therefore, I think that in the government <...> an equivalent will be found," Mikhalkov said.

The possibility of using a monetary equivalent associated with the currency of the country in which the next award ceremony will take place is noted.

Mikhalkov clarified that to date, participants from more than 15 countries are participating in the Diamond Butterfly Award, where each of them can present up to three paintings.

"These are Armenia, Belarus, Venezuela, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, China, North Korea, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, Republika Srpska, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Senegal, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, South Africa," Mikhalkov listed the participating countries.

The Russian director added that the winner of the first "Best Film" award will receive a prize equivalent to $ 1 million, the remaining nominations — up to $ 250 thousand.
