Russian tourists arrested in Turkey for kissing in mosque
In Istanbul, two Russian tourists were charged for kissing in the courtyard of the Chamlıc mosque. This was announced on September 3 by Ayakut Gul, a journalist from the Turkish ATV TV channel.
"An indictment has been prepared, which provides for a penalty of up to one year in prison," he said on the social network X.
The defendants themselves deny their guilt, pointing out that when they entered the mosque, they did not see any written or visual instructions prohibiting such actions.
Earlier, on August 5, it was reported that the Turkish police had detained a man suspected of trying to set fire to the Hagia Sophia Mosque in Istanbul. The incident occurred during the Isha prayer. The suspect, dressed in a red hat and shorts, tried to light a fire in the mosque using papers hidden in his pocket. The fire was prevented thanks to a woman who saw the fire and notified the imam.
