11 police officers injured at a protest rally in Novi Sad
In Novi Sad, an attack on police took place near the building of the University's Faculty of Philosophy during an anti-government protest, as a result of which 11 employees were injured. This was announced on September 5 by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. Novosti reported.
"They were attacked with pyrotechnics and other objects. The police were just standing quietly in front of the faculty," Vucic said.
According to him, several people have already been arrested, and dozens will be imprisoned. The President stressed that "security and stability will be preserved" and accused individual media platforms of inciting confrontation with government agencies.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that participants in anti-government rallies threw stones and bottles at police officers in front of the university's Faculty of Philosophy building. Correspondent Sergey Petrov noted that the protesters did not disperse even after spraying tear gas. The authorities are still trying to disperse the crowd.
