- The United States noted the interest of American companies in cooperation with the Russian Federation
Many American companies would like to cooperate with Russia and have a negative attitude towards the demands to terminate their projects in the Russian Federation. On September 6, retired U.S. Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen, a political scientist, drew attention to this in an interview with Izvestia.
"We have many American companies. They are looking forward to cooperation with Russia, many of them were happy about such cooperation and, frankly, did not want to be forced not to cooperate and stop their production projects, especially under the previous administration," he said.
According to the expert, joint work could be carried out in the economy, as well as in the field of science and research in regions such as the Arctic and Alaska. According to him, such cooperation opens up many opportunities.
In this case, it is possible to realize the potential of not only large, but also small companies that could play the role of subcontractors, he stressed.
"I am referring to large sectors that offer great opportunities, especially if we look at cooperation in the Arctic region — this is, of course, the energy sector, natural gas and oil, rare earths and other resources," Rasmussen explained.
He added that global tensions and geopolitical factors should be put aside in this matter and the situation should be viewed from the point of view of economic cooperation between the two countries.
On September 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced during the plenary session of the X Eastern Economic Forum (WEF-2025) that he was conducting an open dialogue with American leader Donald Trump. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov also stressed that the process of normalizing relations between Russia and the United States is not progressing quickly — the process of their full restoration may take time.
On September 2, Putin allowed Russia and the United States to interact at nuclear facilities in Slovakia. He also noted that in case of "favorable circumstances", Russia, the United States and Ukraine can cooperate three ways at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).
