A Minnesota resident in the United States has been released after 27 years in prison for a murder he did not commit. This was reported on September 5 by The Guardian newspaper.

"Brian Hooper Sr. spent 27 years behind bars on charges of murdering 77-year-old Ann Praziak in 1998. His sentence was reviewed after a woman who had previously testified against him confessed to the crime herself," the newspaper reported.

It is noted that in 1998, the court convicted Hooper. He was found guilty of one murder several times, including in connection with Praziak's death. The accusation was largely based on the testimony of a woman who later confessed to the crime.

Earlier, on August 18, federal and local law enforcement agencies in Washington made 68 arrests overnight. Experts seized 15 illegal firearms, as well as charged persons suspected of murder, drug trafficking, and other offenders.
