Lack of movement or an improperly selected table and chair can lead to back pain in a child. This was stated on September 6 by Zaur Khatshukov, an assistant at the Department of Propaedeutics of Childhood Diseases at Pirogov University, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru».
"In order to prevent back pain, you need to use comfortable furniture for the size of children. Furniture for a child should match his height to ensure comfort during use. This applies to various objects: a table, a chair, and even a bed," he said.
With unsuitable furniture, the child will be forced to slouch or stretch out, which can cause back pain. If the problem persists even after switching to suitable furniture, then a sedentary lifestyle may also be the cause. In this case, general physical training (OFP) can help.
"To avoid pain in the joints and back, you need to do CPR or regular exercise. The joints that we have, they need to be moved in the planes in which they normally move. Accordingly, if these are hands, then hand rotation, hand lifting, hand spreading. If it is a back, then it is, respectively, a movement from right to left, leaning forward and backward. The legs should also work: you need to twist all the joints so that they work and do not hurt," advised Hatshukov.
On August 12, Olga Ulankina, a doctor, spoke about the consequences of an incorrectly selected school briefcase. According to her, an uncomfortable or age-inappropriate briefcase can cause muscle strain. Therefore, it is better for children to choose classic models with two shoulder straps than with one. In the upper part, the width of the straps should be at least 3.5–4 cm, in the lower part — at least 2-2.5 cm. The straps should be soft and adjustable so as not to put pressure on the shoulders and not disrupt blood circulation.
