Excess weight affects the development of risks of various types of cancer, in particular breast and ovarian. Malignant tumors of the reproductive organs in 30% of cases occur in overweight patients. Radmir Akhmerov, oncogynecologist at the SM Clinic, told Gazeta about this on September 5.Ru».

"Excess weight increases the risk of developing cancer in both men and women, primarily breast cancer, uterine body (endometrium) and the ovaries. Moreover, tumors of the reproductive organs in obese patients (if their body mass index is above 30) often behave unpredictably and develop rapidly," the doctor said.

He explained this by saying that overweight patients have severely weakened immune systems. Because of this, it is difficult for the immune system to function normally and produce the necessary number of macrophage cells. These cells destroy various pathogenic bacteria and cancer cells.

Akhmerov added that understanding the mechanisms of the influence of obesity on the development of ovarian cancer helps doctors to develop new treatment methods.

On the same day, September 5, the doctor said that anyone could potentially live to be 110 years old, for this they need to be vaccinated, adhere to a healthy diet and move more. According to him, lifestyle and nutrition play a more significant role in its duration than genetics.
