- Chemezov announced the intention of the Russian Federation to create its own wide-body aircraft
Russia will develop its own wide-body aircraft. This was announced on September 5 by the head of Rostec Corporation, Sergey Chemezov, during a conversation with journalists in Samara.
"We will try to make our own. As soon as we make the PD–35, the engine, we will make our wide—body aircraft," he said.
Chemezov noted that China is also developing similar technology.
On September 5, Rostec's press service announced that the first SJ-100 aircraft, assembled using serial technologies, made its maiden flight in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The aircraft was built by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) using new domestic systems and assemblies as part of an import substitution program. Special attention was paid to the installation of Russian PD-8 engines manufactured by the United Engine Corporation (UEC).
On the same day, Chemezov announced that the company would begin mass production of Russian MC-21, SJ-100 and Il-114 aircraft for civilian use in 2026. In addition, certification flights will be completed by the end of 2026, after which mass production of domestic aircraft will begin. It was noted that by 2030 Rostec will also create 15 of its own aircraft maintenance points, where spare parts will be supplied.
