Church holidays on September 6th
On September 6, the Orthodox Church honors the memory of the Holy Martyr Eutychius, who lived in the late I – early II centuries. After hearing the sermon about the Savior, he was baptized by the Apostle John the Theologian, and then set out on a journey to preach with the Apostle Paul. And although the saint is not one of the 70 apostles, he is revered on an equal basis with them. Eutychius suffered many torments for his faith, including starvation and torture. One day, a lion was released on an unarmed preacher, but the beast suddenly calmed down and spoke in a human voice, praising Christ. Eutychius was killed by pagans in Sebaste at the beginning of the second century.
Also on September 6, believers remember St. Peter of Moscow, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Russia, who lived in the XIII–XIV centuries. He was born into a pious family and devoted himself to monasticism from his youth. In 1308, Patriarch Athanasius of Constantinople elevated him to the Russian metropolitanate. During the years of the Tatar-Mongol invasion, the saint strengthened the faith of his flock and reconciled princes mired in civil strife. In 1325, at the request of Ivan Kalita, he moved the department from Vladimir to the new center of Russia, Moscow.
After the death of Saint Peter in 1326, his relics were transferred to the Assumption Cathedral, where they became an object of veneration by the faithful. In 1472, the saint was canonized, and in 1479, his relics were transferred for a second time to the new Assumption Cathedral, which became the basis for the celebration on September 6.

"O holy servant of God, Holy Martyr Eutyches! Having labored with a good deed on earth, you have perceived in heaven the crown of righteousness, which the Lord has prepared for all who love Him. Looking at your holy image, we rejoice at the glorious end of your residence and honor your holy memory. But you, standing before the Throne of God, accept our supplications and offer them to the All-merciful God, that He may forgive us every sin and help us against the wiles of the devil, so that, having been delivered from sorrows, diseases, troubles and misfortunes, and all evil, we may live piously and righteously in our present age and be worthy of your intercession, even if we are unworthy. May you see the good in the lands of the living, glorifying God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever and ever. Amen to that."

Oh, God's mercy! Hear us kindly and be our helper and intercessor in all our troubles and adversities, do not forget us even at the hour of our death, when we demand your intercession above all, so that, through the prayers of your saints, we sinners may also be worthy to attain a good end and inherit the Kingdom of heaven, glorifying our God, Who is wondrous in His saints. Of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen to that."
