Putin: Russian budget expenditures continue to grow
On September 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an increase in budget expenditures, including for infrastructure development, education, defense and special military operations.
Putin noted that the increase in costs is due to the need to finance infrastructure projects, including work in the Far East, which require significant investments.
"Our expenses related to education and healthcare in the country as a whole. And expenses in the field of defense and security, including expenses related to conducting a special military operation. These are all expenses," he said at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum (WEF-2025).
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said on August 27 that a balanced budget would become the basis for the Central Bank of Russia to ease monetary policy. According to him, it will give the Central Bank more opportunities to mitigate PREP, which will make credit resources more accessible. The Minister also stressed the creation of an additional impetus to socio-economic development. Putin, in turn, supported the Russian government's approach to balancing the budget.
The jubilee Eastern Economic Forum is taking place on September 3-6 at the Far Eastern Federal University campus. This year, the main theme of the forum is "The Far East: cooperation for peace and prosperity."
