The number of vehicle rollovers in the first seven months of 2025 decreased by 37% compared to the same period last year. The number of people injured in accidents involving falling or overturning of cars, motorcycles and personal mobility equipment (IMS) decreased by the same amount. This was announced on the Telegram channel on September 5 by the metropolitan Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development.

They clarified that in January – July 2024, 258 such accidents occurred, and in 2025, 163 cases occurred during the same period. The death toll from vehicle rollovers also decreased by 88%, from eight to one.

In 90% of cases, only one vehicle is affected in such an accident. It overturns because the driver exceeded the speed limit, did not notice an obstacle or lost control, data center analysts said. Electric scooters account for a third of the cases, and motorcycles for a quarter. In every fifth case, bicycles overturn. Two thirds of all rollovers occurred in the summer, most often such accidents occur in the evenings.

Most of the rollovers occurred on the MKAD, Leningradskoye highway, MSD and Borisovskie Prudy Street. Three of them are traffic—free highways, where drivers often ignored traffic regulations and exceeded the speed limit, analysts noted.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Russian government finalized a draft law that describes a special mechanism for bringing to justice some traffic violators. The amendments are intended to eliminate double penalties for accidents.
