The modern labor market has undergone significant changes, and the rules for evaluating resumes have changed dramatically. Previously, a resume would immediately fall into the hands of a live recruitment specialist, but today it is automatically evaluated on most major platforms. This was reported to Izvestia on September 7 by the HR director of the consulting company OOO "Together.ABOUT", practicing psychologist Dmitry Chernyshov.

"This is a system that is designed to initially screen out unsuitable candidates. Her main goal is to save the recruiter's time by filtering out applications that do not meet the basic criteria for a job. For the applicant, this means that the first impression of him is not a person, but an algorithm," he explained.

Therefore, in order to successfully pass this stage and not end up in the digital trash can, it is extremely important to clearly analyze the resume for keywords. These include the specific skills, technologies, tools, and responsibilities listed in the job description. The algorithm searches for exact matches between words and names in a posted job with a resume.

The specialist noted that it is especially necessary to pay attention to the name of the working methods and technologies. For example, if a vacancy requires experience working with 1C:Accounting", and the resume says simply "1C", the system may not count this as a complete coincidence. If your resume does not contain these keywords, it is highly likely to be sent to the digital shopping cart.

The second stage is a high—speed assessment by a person, which takes an average of 10-12 seconds. During this time, the recruitment specialist makes an overall impression and decides whether to dive into the details. At this brief moment, the general appearance of the resume is evaluated. First of all, the availability of the photo and its quality. The photo should be professional and fit the image of the employee for the desired position.

Secondly, the recruiter briefly checks whether the text contains the keywords that he expects to see for this position. Thirdly, the overall perception of the document is important: it must be well-designed, structured, with text without spelling and punctuation errors. If during these 10-12 seconds the formed primary image coincided with the HR specialist's idea of the ideal candidate, the resume proceeds to the next stage of consideration. If the image does not match, the document will be sent to the trash.

This is followed by a dive into the details of the resume. Here, the recruiter carefully reads the work experience, looks at the career path and achievements. A common mistake of many applicants is to limit themselves to listing their job responsibilities. The recruiter has a rough idea of what the sales manager or accountant was doing.

"It is much more valuable to show how you solved goals and objectives, and most importantly, describe your results. Use numbers, percentages, and specific indicators. Use the phrases: "increased sales by 25% in the first half of the year" or "optimized workflow, which reduced the processing time of applications to two days." If there are no results in your resume, it is highly likely to go into the basket, giving way to those who were able to competently present their merits," Chernyshov said.

Another important point that is often overlooked is the cover letter. Many candidates leave this field blank or write boilerplate text, which is a big mistake. A competent letter can complement your resume and endear you to a recruiter. However, when describing motivation to work for a company, one should be very careful and avoid stop phrases like "our services".

Oleg Kim, a lawyer for civil and criminal cases at the Moscow Bar Association Grad, told Izvestia on July 21 that in 2025, the indexation of salaries of employees of budgetary professions will amount to 13.2%. He appreciated this prospect and told who exactly can count on a salary increase, for example, teachers, educators and teachers, medical workers, specialists who help pensioners and the disabled, cultural workers.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
