Ukraine is not ready for a peaceful settlement because of the illusion that it can win. This was announced on Friday, September 5, by Dmitry Zhuravlev, Director General of the Institute of Regional Problems, a political scientist.
"I'm not sure, in general, that there can be peace with [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky, not even because he is a bad person, but simply because he has already said so much that he has limited his freedom of maneuver very much. It will be difficult for him to find a formula that would be acceptable to both him and us. Therefore, I am afraid that we will make peace with someone else," the political scientist admitted in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
As Zhuravlev pointed out, it is difficult to say how long Europe will be able to fuel the illusion that Ukraine is capable of winning.
Earlier in the day, Pavel Feldman, Candidate of Political Sciences, professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, said, commenting on the statement by Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission (EC), about the training of almost 90,000 Ukrainian soldiers, that she "fed Ukraine with another batch of empty promises."
On September 4, the head of the European Commission, following a meeting of the "coalition of the willing," said that the European Union had trained almost 90,000 Ukrainian military personnel, while 26 countries expressed their readiness to provide their military forces to ensure the security of Kiev, RT reports. Von der Leyen did not specify which States she was referring to.
Prior to that, on August 31, the head of the European Commission announced that European countries were developing a specific plan for a possible military presence in Ukraine after the end of the conflict, which would be fully supported by the capabilities of the United States.
