Patrushev spoke about the areas of work of the Russian Water project
Work within the framework of the federal project "Water of Russia" has started in nine areas, and more than 5.5 billion rubles have been allocated for their implementation in 2025. This was announced on September 5 by Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
The Deputy Prime Minister held a meeting on the progress of the implementation of the federal project "Water of Russia" of the national project "Environmental well-being".
"In 2025, more than 5.5 billion rubles have been allocated for the implementation of the activities of the federal project "Water of Russia". Work has already started in nine areas. In particular, more than 70 reservoirs are being cleared, construction of sewage treatment plants on Lake Baikal continues, and hydroelectric power plants in the Omsk Region and the Lugansk People's Republic (LNR) are being reconstructed. In addition, preparations have begun for individual events in 2026," Patrushev said at the meeting.
The entire necessary regulatory framework for the implementation of the federal project was also approved and facilities were selected for operation next year.
In 2026, the development of design estimates for the reconstruction of the Krasnodar and Kursk reservoirs, as well as the construction and reconstruction of sewage treatment plants on the Ural, Tobol, Kama and Angara rivers, should begin. Work will continue on the Volga and Lake Baikal.
In addition, the project annually conducts educational events aimed at fostering respect for water bodies. At the moment, more than 17 thousand actions have been carried out to clean the shores with the participation of volunteers.
Patrushev also instructed the visiting working group to visit the Republic of Buryatia on the eve of the next meeting and assess the progress of work on the construction of sewage treatment plants on Lake Baikal.
As part of a working trip to the Irkutsk Region on August 27, Patrushev announced that 15 billion rubles would be allocated to eliminate accumulated environmental damage in the territory of the former Baikal Pulp and Paper Mill. The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that more than 6.5 million cubic meters of waste will have to be disposed of.
