Fish processing plants in Kamchatka are operating normally after the earthquake. This was announced on September 4 by the head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

"In Kamchatka, they (factories. — Ed.) as they worked, they continued to work. It was literally a day there, and that's it," TASS quoted him as saying.

He also noted that the possible migration of fish after the earthquake in the short term will not affect the volume of catch.

In addition, Shestakov stressed that the demand for red fish for the New Year will be satisfied. Salmon catch exceeds the figures for 2024. At the same time, fish exports from Russia have increased by 15% in monetary terms since the beginning of 2025 compared to the same period last year, and by 5% in physical terms, he added.

The earthquake in Kamchatka occurred on July 30. A tsunami threat was announced against the background of a strong seismic event on the coast of the Avacha Bay. As a result, the wall of a kindergarten building collapsed in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. A series of aftershocks followed.

On September 4, the governor of the Kamchatka Territory, Vladimir Solodov, announced that it would take about 6-7 billion rubles to restore the infrastructure of the Kamchatka Territory after the earthquake. This amount included the restoration of both houses and social facilities in the region.
