The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, "fed Ukraine with another batch of empty promises." This was stated on September 5 by Pavel Feldman, Candidate of Political Sciences, professor at the Academy of Labor and Social Relations, commenting on her statement about the training of almost 90,000 Ukrainian military personnel.

"Von der Leyen simply does not have the competence to send European troops to Ukraine. The head of the European Commission is playing another show in front of US President Donald Trump and creating an information noise," the expert said.

Feldman stressed that such initiatives cannot be implemented without the approval of the highest legislative bodies of the European Union (EU) countries. Moreover, according to him, no European country has yet started discussing these issues at the parliamentary level.

The political scientist also warned against the possible negative consequences of such statements.

"At this stage of the development of the Ukrainian crisis, such conversations are completely meaningless. No peacekeepers will be sent to Kiev while the fighting is going on. The fighting will continue exactly until the West abandons the idea of deploying its troops in Ukraine," concluded Feldman.

On September 4, the head of the European Commission, following a meeting of the "coalition of the willing," said that the European Union had trained almost 90,000 Ukrainian soldiers, while 26 countries expressed their willingness to provide their military forces to ensure the security of Kiev. Von der Leyen did not specify which States she was referring to.

Prior to that, on August 31, the head of the European Commission announced that European countries were developing a specific plan for a possible military presence in Ukraine after the end of the conflict, which would be fully supported by the capabilities of the United States.
