- The Ministry of Transport has allowed mutual recognition of Russian and Chinese driver's licenses
Russia and China are working on mutual recognition of driver's licenses. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation Andrey Nikitin, TASS reported on September 5. There are no specific dates yet when this measure can work, he said.
Dmitry Zverev, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, told a plenary meeting of the Federation Council in March that Russian driver's licenses could be recognized as valid for driving vehicles in China.
Currently, Russian driver's licenses are valid in countries that have signed and ratified the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic. In countries that have signed only the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, you will need an international driver's license.
There are no driver's licenses in China, except for local ones, neither Russian nor international.
Earlier, on September 3, the State Duma offered to replace state automobile registration plates free of charge, which do not have the Russian tricolor, with those with the image of the flag. The initiative "will reduce the number of disputes and risks for bona fide car owners, as well as help to curb the turnover of duplicates that do not meet the updated standard," its author is confident.
