Biobank of fermented milk microorganisms to be created in the Far East
Health & Nutrition (H&N) and the Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) signed a cooperation agreement on the sidelines of the WEF-2025. As part of the partnership, the parties will create a joint biobank of fermented milk microorganisms.
The biobank is needed to collect, preserve and research rare and endemic strains characteristic of the unique ecosystem of the Far East, the company explained. This will contribute to the development of innovative biotechnologies, as well as their use in the food industry.
"The Far East has unique natural and biological resources, huge scientific potential, and talented youth, who in recent years have increasingly preferred to stay in the region in order to contribute to its economy and industrial growth," said Yakub Zakriev, CEO of H&N. According to him, these factors create an excellent opportunity for the development of the agricultural complex, the dairy industry and biotechnologies.
The cooperation will also be aimed at creating human resources in the agro-industrial complex. H&N and FEFU intend to organize joint technical and career guidance events, conferences, internships and internships to enhance the professional training of students. H&N will promote the employment of students and graduates, including through targeted recruitment. In addition, the parties plan to conduct fundamental and applied research in the field of bio- and food technologies, to develop new products and strains of starter cultures.
H&N is a leader in the production of fresh dairy products in Russia, as well as one of the leading manufacturers of alternative plant-based beverages. The company's products are manufactured in 12 factories.
