Likhachev revealed plans for the development of cargo transportation in Russia
In Russia, it is expected to move from tens to hundreds of millions of tons in icebreaker transportation along the Northern Sea Route over the next three to five years. This was announced to Izvestia on September 5 by Alexey Likhachev, head of Rosatom Corporation, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025).
"When caravans through the NSR will be formed in the interests of not only one company, but also a number of operators of the Northern Sea Route. This will also change the economic principle, and most importantly, it will affect the number of icebreakers. In this case, the loads will have to multiply. And we expect the transition from tens to hundreds of millions of tons over the next 3-5 years," he said.
The jubilee Eastern Economic Forum is taking place on September 3-6 at the Far Eastern Federal University campus. This year, the main theme of the forum is "The Far East: cooperation for peace and prosperity."
In his greeting to the participants, organizers and guests of the X WEF, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that over the past decade the WEF has rightfully earned a high reputation.
