North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, during a visit to Beijing for celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japan and the end of World War II, told Chinese President Xi Jinping about North Korea's readiness to support China. This was reported on September 4 on the website of the Central Telegraphic Agency of Korea (KCNA).

"The DPRK will continue to support China in protecting its sovereignty, territory and development interests," KCNA quoted Kim Jong—un as saying.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the leaders of the DPRK and China would hold talks in Beijing. It was noted that the meeting will be held at the House of National Assemblies.

Before the start of the Tiananmen Square parade, Kim Jong-un met with Xi Jinping and war veterans. A Chinese flag-raising ceremony, an 80-gun salute and a military parade of the People's Liberation Army of China were also held in Beijing.
