On September 4, Svetlana Balanova, General Director of the National Media Group (NMG), presented Shen Haixiong, head of the Media Corporation of China (China Media Group — CMG), Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC Central Committee), with an issue of the Izvestia newspaper with an address by Soviet Leader Joseph Stalin on the end of World War II.

"Today, on September 2, Japanese government and military representatives signed an act of unconditional surrender. Defeated on the seas and on land and surrounded on all sides by the armed forces of the United Nations, Japan declared itself defeated and laid down its arms. <...> This means that the end of World War II has come," the text of the appeal in the historical issue of the newspaper says.

Earlier, on May 8, NMG and CMG signed a cooperation agreement. The document was signed during the visit of the Chinese delegation to the Russian Federation for the celebrations dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. It was reported that the parties will also engage in joint production of content.
