The American neurotechnology company Neuralink, founded by American billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk, plans to perform an operation in 2026 to restore vision in a completely blind patient. On September 4, Ilona Musk announced this on the social network X.

"The goal is to restore (partial) vision to the completely blind next year," the statement said.

Earlier, on August 13, it was reported that OpenAI, the company that developed the chat bot ChatGpt, plans to invest in the startup Merge Labs in order to compete with the AI company Neuralink of billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk for the development of brain implants. It clarifies that the new venture, called Merge Labs, is raising new funds in the amount of $850 million, while it is expected that most of the new capital will come from the OpenAI venture capital team. They added that Altman will become a co-founder of the company, but will not be directly involved in the new project.
