- The media reported on the speech of the suspect in the murder of Parubiy against his son's service
Mikhail Stselnikov, a suspect in the murder of former Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy, was against his son's service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on September 4 by the Ukrainian online publication "Страна.иа ".
"Like his first wife, he loves literature. He even had a nickname, Pushkin. His son also loved to read. My father was against the fact that he went to fight," the newspaper quotes the words of an unnamed acquaintance of Stselnikov.
It is noted that the suspect constantly kept in touch with his son, and was also present at important events in his life, while having another family. However, after he joined the army, the relationship between father and son was interrupted.
People's Deputy from the Eurosolidarity party Nikolay Knyazhitsky said that Stselnikov's son joined the same unit where Parubiy served. According to the newspaper, against this background, a version arose that Stselnikov decided to take revenge on the party for the death of his son. In turn, journalist Vladimir Boyko denied this information and stated that Eurosolidarity politicians were listed in the battalion fictitiously, and Parubiy was not even officially enrolled there.
The murder of Parubiy became known on August 30. According to police, in the afternoon, the department received a report of a shooting in the Sykhiv district of Lviv. As a result of his injuries, the ex-speaker of the Rada died on the spot. On September 1, the suspect was arrested. Later, the Lviv court chose a preventive measure for the defendant in the form of detention for 60 days without the right to bail.
On August 30, the ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Rodion Miroshnik, suggested that the murder of Parubiy could be connected with the cleansing of the political field by the new Bandera from the old Bandera.
