Khabensky spoke about the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater troupe's tour in China and the beginning of the season.

Konstantin Khabensky, artistic director of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theater, spoke about the troupe's three-week tour in China, where nine performances were performed. He announced this on September 4 at the opening of the 128th theatrical season.

"For three weeks we traveled across the expanses of China <...>. It was a very important tour for us, we spent it worthily. I want to say a huge thank you to all the participants of these tours for their will, for their professionalism, for their endurance, and for their talent," said the artistic director.

He explained that during this time, the actors have shown nine performances in three Chinese cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Xiamen.

In addition, Khabensky said that the new season at the theater will open with the premiere on the Main Stage — the play "The Cabal of Saints" based on Mikhail Bulgakov's play about Moliere. According to him, the production is dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the writer's birth, which will be celebrated next year.

It is specified that the season will end with rehearsals of the play "The Living Corpse" based on the play by Leo Tolstoy. The Moscow Art Theater will open the next, 129th, season with its premiere, according to a publication on the theater's website.

On August 21, Olga Yegoshina, professor at the Moscow Art Theater School, Doctor of Art History, expert of the federal selection Committee for the Golden Fund of Theatrical Productions of Russia, told how the performances were selected for the Golden Fund. She explained that this happened with the participation of numerous experts on ten criteria, which ensured the objectivity of the process.

This, according to Yegoshina, was not the taste of three people: a large number of specialists worked, and guaranteed the independence and relevance of the choice. The fund includes 100 performances from different regions of Russia, representing various theaters and productions.
