The Russian Embassy in Belgium criticized Rutte for his statements about Putin.
The Russian embassy in Belgium reacted to the words of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte about Russian President Vladimir Putin and said that it was useless to teach the politician the basics of politeness. The corresponding statement was made on September 4 in the Telegram channel of the department.
It is clarified that in his provocative speech, Rutte compared the Russian leader to the governor of Texas. In this regard, the department stated that it makes no sense to teach the "basics of politeness and diplomacy" to the NATO Secretary General.
"The Secretary General should decide whether Putin is not such a "powerful" leader of a country comparable to a cowboy state, or the president of a state that poses the most "significant and direct threat to the security of the Euro—Atlantic," the publication says.
On July 14, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, criticized Rutte after his words about the allegedly "frivolous" Russian delegation at the talks in Istanbul. According to her, no problem can be solved without knowledge of history. In addition, she stated that the illiteracy of NATO figures has already led to numerous victims in the world.
