Israel bans Macron from entering the country because of his position on Palestine
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has refused French President Emmanuel Macron entry to the country due to the French leader's statements that he intends to officially recognize Palestine in September. This was reported on September 3 by the Israeli TV channel Channel 13.
"Macron, who announced his intention to recognize Palestine at the UN General Assembly in New York, asked for permission to visit Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu replied that he would not welcome his visit until he reneged on his intention," the publication says.
On July 24, Macron announced that the country would recognize the state of Palestine at the UN General Assembly in 2026 in order to achieve peace in the Middle East. According to him, the recognition of the country will allow the demilitarization of the radical Palestinian movement Hamas and ensure security in the Gaza Strip.
On August 20, Netanyahu accused the French leader of anti-Semitism because of his intention to recognize the state of Palestine. The prime minister said that Macron's actions encourage the terror of Hamas and those who threaten French Jews.
