The CEO of Aeroflot pointed to the expected increase in airport costs in 2026.
Airport costs in the Far East may rise to 27% of the cost of an air ticket by 2026, compared with 8% in 2024. This was stated by Sergey Alexandrovsky, CEO of the Aeroflot Group, on September 4 at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
"If earlier airport expenses accounted for about 8% of the ticket price in 2024, then in 2026 they will already increase to 27%. <...> We definitely want to pay attention to this, because it is extremely important to maintain a balanced fare for residents of the Far East," he said at the session, "Effectively, quickly, for people: implementation of national transport projects in the Far East."
Alexandrovsky added that this affected not only Aeroflot, but also all airlines operating flights to the region. The cost of airport fares has increased by 1-3 thousand rubles per flight, which increases airline costs by several thousand.
"It probably makes sense to also think about some kind of redistribution of subsidies from the European part of our country to the Far Eastern part, because the European part of the country is provided with fairly stable transport accessibility," added the CEO of Aeroflot.
In addition, he noted the need to open Komsomolsk-on-Amur Airport as soon as possible. According to him, it will certainly be in demand from carriers.
In April, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin called on the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) to carefully monitor railway and airline ticket prices during the holiday season. The Prime Minister noted that in the summer, tariff regulation of prices for air tickets and train tickets is extremely important for citizens.
