A Kurgan resident is awaiting trial for a drunken fatal accident with a fire truck

The investigation of the criminal case of a drunken fatal accident involving a fire truck has been completed in Kurgan. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office.

The accident occurred in the summer of 2025 at night in the center of Kurgan. According to the <url> news agency, a 53-year-old man driving a passenger car did not give way to an oncoming fire truck with flashing lights on.

As a result of the accident, a woman who was in the front passenger seat died. She and the driver, who was her relative, were drunk at the time of the collision.

The investigation of the criminal case under paragraph "a" of Part 4 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person committed by a person under the influence of alcohol" has been completed. The materials were submitted to the court for consideration on the merits. The motorist faces up to 12 years in prison.

In August, it was reported that a criminal investigation into an accident involving a truck and a passenger bus, which injured six people, had been completed in Buryatia. The person involved in the case is a 38-year-old native of the Novgorod region, who was driving a tractor truck.
