On September 11, 12 and 13, the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Musical Theater (MAMT) will open the 107th theater season with screenings of a new ballet evening program called Reflections. Queens of Variations."
The program focuses on the premiere of the ballet "The Queen of Variations", set to music by the Hungarian composer Ernst von Donanyi. This ballet will be part of the evening program, which also includes famous works.
Maxim Sevagin, the artistic director of the MAMT ballet troupe, not only staged the performance, but also created the set design and costumes. The production focuses on four ballerinas representing different eras of choreography: romanticism, classical Russian ballet from the time of Marius Petipa, plotless neoclassicism of the 20th century and modernity. The visual solution, made in shades of blue aquamarine, strives for the lightness of watercolor tints. The musical director and conductor was Arif Dadashev.
Among the performers are the most decorated ballerinas of the theater: Oksana Kardash, Erika Mikirticheva, Anastasia Limenko and Elena Solomyanko, as well as students of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography (MGAKH).
The neoclassical ballet Reflections, directed by Yuri Posokhov, one of the most famous choreographers of the 21st century, was created in 2005 for the San Francisco Troupe. The set design and costumes for this production were created by Sandra Woodall, and the black-white-and-red design is enhanced by tall mirrors. In July 2024, Yuri Posokhov personally carried out the transfer of the ballet to the MAMT artists. The musical director of the production was the chief conductor of the theater, Felix Korobov.
Earlier in the day, Deputy Mayor of Moscow Natalia Sergunina announced that more than 1.5 million people attended the Teatralny Boulevard festival, which took place in the capital from June 1 to August 31. She noted that the audience saw more than a thousand productions in various genres, including operettas and one-man shows.
