The FAS named the reason for the increase in gasoline prices at gas stations
The increase in the cost of gasoline at gas stations is related, among other things, to the operation of independent gas stations that do not belong to vertically integrated companies. This was announced on September 4 by Deputy Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service Vitaly Korolev on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum - 2025 (WEF-2025).
"Independent retail market participants lowered the price in relation to the market because they needed to gain competitive advantages so that people would go to their gas stations and not to others," he explained in an interview with TASS.
As Korolev emphasized, prices in a number of regions of the Russian Federation have leveled off at the moment.
On August 27, the Russian government announced that starting in September, a new temporary ban on the export of motor gasoline will be introduced in the Russian Federation, which will be in effect until October 31, inclusive. The Cabinet clarified that this decision is aimed at maintaining a stable situation in the domestic fuel market.
