The expert named ways to safely heat the apartment in early autumn
The autumn cold snap in Moscow forced the townspeople to turn on electric heaters en masse. At the same time, centralized heating is not yet provided in the capital. Nikolay Avdienko, an expert at CHINT technical support in Russia, told Izvestia on September 5 how to safely heat an apartment.
He explained that as a result of the frequent use of heaters, the load on the power grid has increased, and the company's technical support service has received 38% more calls in the last 10 days than in the same period in July. So, about 35% of the requests are related to the issue of selecting equipment in electrical panels due to private triggers of protective devices and, as a result, the desire to replace them.
"Because of the cold, Muscovites now often turn on several heaters at once. The load on home power grids increases by 20-30%," the expert explained.
He stressed that a common mistake of apartment residents is to underestimate the power of the heater. This is as serious a consumer as a kettle or a microwave. If they are connected together, the load on the line increases many times.
According to Avdienko, there are a number of subtle signs of an overload of the power grid. "A lot of switched-on devices in the apartment overload the network, to which the protection switch responds. But at the same time, the wires in the walls overheat, their insulation deteriorates. This can lead to a fire," he warned.
The expert separately recommended paying attention to the condition of the sockets. If the heater plug is heating up more than the appliance itself, you must immediately check the condition of the outlet. Loosening of the wire connection can lead to disastrous consequences in a short time.
He also advised not to leave the heaters on at night. Most apartment fires occur at night. The person cannot react in time, and the switch does not have time to turn off in time to prevent a fire. In addition, if the apartment has old wiring, it is better to distribute the load not only across the rooms, but also over time. For example, you should turn on the heater when the washing machine or oven is not working.
The specialist noted that paying attention to such simple things allows you to avoid serious consequences. Electrical safety often depends not on obvious signs like the smell of burning, but on small things that people are very often accustomed to ignore, Avdienko summed up.
On June 25, Alexander Yakubovsky, a member of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services (HCS), recalled the possibility of pensioners, low-income families, large families, people with disabilities and families of participants in a special military operation to receive subsidies for housing and communal services.
