- Analysts spoke about the growth in the volume of donations to charitable foundations
For the International Day of Charity, HUMOPEU analysts have prepared a study that demonstrates a significant increase in the involvement of Russians in charity. The data was reviewed by Izvestia on September 5.
According to the report, in the first eight months of 2025, the number of charitable payments increased by 43% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the average donation amount also increased by 4% and amounted to 629 rubles.
Helping children remains the main focus for donations. The average amount of donations to children's hospices is 1,538 rubles. An average of 542 rubles were transferred to the treatment of children with severe and rare diseases, and 510 rubles were transferred to help people with disabilities. Russians also actively support the homeless, victims of disasters and freelancers.
The study revealed an interesting regional dynamic. Karachay-Cherkessia became the absolute leader in terms of the average transfer amount, where this figure reached 1,049 rubles, doubling. The total volume of payments in the region has tripled, and the number of transactions has increased by 47%.
The top three regions included St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region with an average donation amount of 942 rubles and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), where residents donate an average of 852 rubles each. The Chechen Republic (838 rubles) and Moscow and the Moscow Region (773 rubles) are in fourth and fifth place.
The Chechen Republic showed the greatest increase in activity: the number of transactions increased more than fivefold, and the total amount of funds raised increased sevenfold. Significant growth was also demonstrated by the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, where the volume of donations doubled, and the Tomsk Region, where the turnover of charitable payments increased by 53%.
"The steady growth of charitable payments shows that helping one's neighbor is becoming an integral part of Russians' lives. Digital payment systems not only facilitate this process, they form a culture of conscious and regular assistance to those who need it," summed up Irina Polyakova, Head of Corporate Customer Support at YUMOPEU.
Olga Zanko, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Development of Civil Society, Public and Religious Associations, proposed on May 20 to introduce special charity accounts for collecting donations. According to her, this will prohibit the collection of donations to personal cards, since it is very difficult to understand whether the funds were actually spent on assistance or whether someone embezzled them.
