Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov instructed to check the State Traffic Inspectorate and Rostransnadzor. This was announced on September 4 by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

The audit is initiated after complaints from entrepreneurs on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025). At a meeting with Krasnov, one of the representatives of the business community spoke about the serious barriers that entrepreneurs have to overcome when implementing investment projects.

"In particular, he touched upon the problem of organizing congresses and connections to highways — business entities are forced to undergo lengthy approval procedures after the reconstruction of the roadway, including when defining the boundaries of the junctions. This reduces traffic at the facilities, increases risks and payback periods for projects, said an individual entrepreneur from Khabarovsk," the report says.

The Prosecutor General's Office notes that Krasnov instructed to start checking the traffic police and Rostransnadzor in the whole country and to do so immediately. It is also required to evaluate the work of Rosavtodor in terms of providing public services in this area.

The day before, it was reported that the total length of highways in Russia is 4.4 million km. This number includes federal highways, as well as roads of regional and interregional importance. It is noteworthy that the federal highways turned out to be only a small part of the overall road network.
