There have been 307 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 307 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 23 people were killed and 368 injured. 20 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to Izvestia on September 4 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
22 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, however, 28 road users, including three children, required medical assistance. The reason for 14 bus accidents were traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.
As a result of 71 accidents, 36 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 35 outside their area of operation, three pedestrians were killed, and 70 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 21 pedestrian children, 13 of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas. 46 accidents involving minors were also registered, in which 50 young road users were injured, including 18 passengers, two cyclists and five motor transport drivers. There are no dead children.
The State Traffic Inspectorate urged motorists to be more attentive both on the roads near settlements and cities, and in the settlements themselves. The behavior of children and the elderly when crossing the roadway can be unpredictable, so it is important to take special care when approaching intersections, pedestrian crossings, park areas and other problem areas, from where pedestrians, cyclists or users of personal mobility equipment who neglect their own safety issues may unexpectedly appear on the road for the driver.
It is recommended to slow down to the minimum speed in advance in order to have time to react to a sudden change in the road situation at any moment. Drivers should always stop in front of unregulated pedestrian crossings to let people through.
Temporary closures or traffic restrictions are continuing in some regions of the country due to heavy rainfall and related floods. For example, in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, on September 1, due to a dam break on Lake Ogonki, there was a sharp rise in the water level, which led to local flooding of the carriageway of two regional highways. The traffic on them has been temporarily stopped.
In the Amur Region, due to heavy rains, the roadway has been temporarily restricted for buses and trucks from 39 km to 160 km of the A-360 Lena federal highway for more than a month. A detour has been organized along a dirt embankment directly near the place of erosion of the roadway. In the Sakhalin Region, traffic on the seventh kilometer of the Nevelsk-Shebunino highway of regional significance has been temporarily suspended since the first decade of August due to damage due to heavy rainfall to the bridge over the Kazachka River. For motorists, there is a detour along the dirt embankment next to the damaged bridge.
"When planning long-distance trips, we recommend that motorists familiarize themselves with the weather forecast and media information about possible overlap sites, outlining detours in advance. If traffic restrictions are imposed or road sections are closed due to worsening weather conditions, the relevant information is promptly posted on the website of the State Traffic Inspectorate, as well as on the official pages of the service's departments on social networks," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
Earlier, on August 31, it was reported that residents of Moscow, the Moscow region and the Republic of Dagestan most often violated traffic rules in 2024. According to the Interior Ministry, a total of 11.8 million people violated traffic laws in Russia last year.
