Kamchatka named the amount for the restoration of infrastructure after the earthquake
About 6-7 billion rubles will be required to restore the infrastructure of the Kamchatka Territory after the powerful earthquake that occurred on July 30. This was announced on September 4 by the governor of the region, Vladimir Solodov.
"We are currently creating a digital model, and after that the exact damage will be assessed. From what we can see now, at least about 6-7 billion rubles will be needed to restore the infrastructure that has been damaged," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti at the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025).
According to him, this amount includes the restoration of both houses and social facilities in Kamchatka. In addition, Solodov clarified that a significant part of the money will be allocated for the construction of a new kindergarten and school. The housing stock, as he noted, received massive minor damage.
The earthquake in Kamchatka occurred on July 30. Against the background of a strong seismic event, a tsunami threat was declared on the coast of the Avacha Bay. As a result, the wall of a kindergarten building collapsed in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. A series of aftershocks followed.
Later, on August 4, experts from the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) reported that seven significant earthquakes had been recorded in Kamchatka during the day. It was clarified that more than 85 seismic events were registered in the region in just one day.
