- Russia's correct approach to the development of eastern cities was noted at the WEF-2025
Russia's approach to the development of eastern cities is reasonable and correct. This opinion was expressed on September 4 by the Vice President of China Railway Construction Corporation International (CRCC) Wang Jinsong in conversation with Izvestia at the Eastern Economic Forum — 2025 (WEF-2025).
"In February last year, the Russian Federation developed a National Special Development Strategy until 2030, aimed at creating urban settlements and cities that contribute to the development of the country's economy. This is a very reasonable and correct approach," he said.
Jinsong added that he is going to focus on integrating local resources, train local managers and technical specialists through common training centers, maximize the involvement of local employees and create more jobs for young people. This strategy is similar to the mentioned Russian one, the businessman noted.
Grigory Smolyak, director of the Department of the Russian Ministry for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, said on September 3 that 151 thousand people had received land plots under the Hectare program so far. Daria Kislitsina, Director of the Department of Regional Programs at the Expert Institute for Social Research (EISR), in turn, drew attention to the fact that the program was launched nine years ago. During this time, according to her, there has been a transformation of public consciousness, perception and demand among residents of the macroregion.
