The expert spoke about the increasing interest in joint projects between Russia and China

Joint film production projects between Russia and China have been gaining momentum in recent years. This was announced on September 4 by Ekaterina Zaklyazminskaya, Head of the Center for World Politics and Strategic Analysis at the Institute of China and Modern Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025).

"Common film production projects between Russia and China have, of course, been gaining momentum in recent years. <...> Both China and Russia are interested in continuing and developing such joint film production projects," Zaklyazminskaya noted.

According to the expert, the idea of creating a joint film "Red Silk" was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping. This indicates the mutual interest of the parties in creating joint projects.

"The Chinese are very sensitive to preserving the historical memory of the events of the Second World War and the events of our common history. Of course, they are currently working hard to ensure that as many people as possible in Russia, China, and around the world learn about the history of China and the history of Soviet-Chinese cooperation. And such films will allow ordinary people to learn more, to get acquainted with such unknown pages of our common history," Zaklyazminskaya emphasized.
