Nenets Autonomous Okrug has become a leader in mental disorders
The Nenets Autonomous Okrug took the first place in the ranking of Russian regions in terms of the incidence of mental disorders, the Russian Ministry of Health reported on September 3.
According to RIA Novosti, in 2024, 703.4 cases of mental disorders per 100,000 population were registered here for the first time.
The Arkhangelsk Region came in second place (697.4 cases), the Republic of Karelia took the third place (556.3). The top five also included Mordovia (554) and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (551.6). The lowest rates were recorded in the Chechen Republic (42.8 per 100,000 people), Sevastopol (73.7) and the Bryansk Region (96.8).
"These figures show a significant gap between regions, which indicates both differences in the availability of medical care and social factors," experts say.
Earlier, on August 27, Irina Krashkina, a psychotherapist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg clinic), Candidate of Medical Sciences, spoke about the "potassium diet" for depression and dispelled the myth imposed by society. She noted that to maintain mental health, it is more important to adhere to a balanced diet and regularly monitor the level of trace elements in the body.
