Laos invited Russia and ASEAN to cooperate in the field of industry and tourism
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) could offer Russia cooperation in agriculture, energy, and mining. This was announced on September 4 by Phongsavan Sisoulat, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2025 (WEF 2025).
"In ASEAN, we have a number of areas that we can share or offer cooperation to the Russian business community, such as agriculture, clean, sustainable energy, mining, services, and technology," he said.
In addition, tourism is an important area of cooperation. According to the diplomat, in 2025, more than 2.5 million tourists from Russia visited the ASEAN countries. At the same time, the parties have a language barrier problem, which could be solved by the development of tourist guides who speak English.
"These are the things we need to work on together in the coming years to promote bilateral trade and tourism cooperation," concluded Phongsawan Sisulat.
On September 3, the start of the WEF-2025 was announced. It will be attended by delegations from 70 countries. According to experts, the amount of contracts concluded on it can reach almost 6 trillion rubles.
Earlier it was reported that from September 15, 2025 to September 14, 2026, China will introduce a visa-free regime for Russian citizens with a regular passport for up to 30 days. This was announced on September 2 by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun.
