Sweden announced the possible sale of Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine
Swedish Defense Minister Paul Johnson said that the country does not exclude the possibility of selling Gripen fighter jets to the Armed Forces of Ukraine after the conflict in Ukraine ends. This was reported on September 3 by Breaking Defense.
"We are in dialogue with the Ukrainian side, which has expressed its interest in the Gripen system, primarily its new version, the Gripen Echo, which is already in service with Sweden and Brazil, so such a deal is possible in the future," Yunson said.
The Defense Minister made it clear that the possibility of cooperation would depend on the end of the conflict in Ukraine, and stressed that the deal should be a "long-term project."
Earlier, on August 24, Ukraine and Sweden agreed to jointly manufacture defense products in both countries. The document updated the joint efforts of Ukraine and Sweden in this area.
