French President Emmanuel Macron has become the target of unprecedented attacks in Israel after his decision to officially recognize a Palestinian state. This was reported by Le Figaro on September 3.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said the French leader was "undermining the stability of the region with his actions."

"Macron is trying to intervene from the outside in a conflict in which he is not a party, in a way that is completely divorced from reality on the ground after October 7. His actions are dangerous. They will bring neither peace nor security," Saar wrote.

The Israeli media called Paris' move a "diplomatic tsunami" and a "moral capitulation." According to Le Figaro, the crisis in relations between France and Israel is "probably unprecedented."
Despite this, Macron firmly defends his position.

"No offensive, attempted annexation and population displacement will stop the dynamics that we have created and that many partners have already joined," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Earlier in the day, Macron said that Paris and Riyadh would lead an international conference on the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict at the United Nations. He also criticized the United States' decision not to issue visas to Palestinian officials, calling it "unacceptable." Macron noted that the conference would be "a decisive turning point on the path to peace and security for all in the region."
