The national teams of Japan and Italy have reached the semifinals of the Women's World Volleyball Championship. This became known on September 3.

It is noted that the Japanese women beat their rivals from the national team of the Netherlands with a score of 3:2 (20:25, 25:20, 22:25, 25:22, 15:12). The athletes from Italy defeated the Polish national team with a score of 3:0 (25:17, 25:21, 25:18).

"In the semifinals, the Japanese women will play the winner of the USA—Turkey match. <...> The Italian women's opponent in the semifinals will be the winner of the Brazil—France match," Sport-Express reported.
