- The Daily Mail reported the deaths of 69 migrants in Spain under strange circumstances.
Spanish police are investigating the mysterious deaths of 69 migrants, who, according to preliminary data, were killed by other passengers after being accused of stealing water and witchcraft. This was reported on September 2 by the British newspaper Daily Mail.
"Several people connected with these events have been arrested. The detainees will give evidence, and then they will be transferred to the judicial authorities," said a representative of the National Police.
According to the newspaper, the alleged murders occurred on a ship carrying about 320 migrants to the Canary Islands. Migrants found dead near the Canary Islands were allegedly killed and thrown overboard after an overcrowded boat broke down at sea.
After the breakdown, the ship drifted in the Atlantic Ocean for about a week until it was discovered by the Spanish Coast Guard. Rescuers managed to save 251 people, but after arriving on the islands, 20 of them were detained by local police.
Earlier, on July 13, riots broke out in the Spanish city of Torre Pacheco after migrants attacked an elderly man. It is clarified that after the attack, protests began in the city, which ended in clashes between residents, radical groups and citizens of Moroccan origin.
