- The State Duma deputy pointed out that MAX works within the framework of the standard rules of messengers.
The national messenger MAX requests access only to phone functions to the same extent as other messengers, and even less. Anton Nemkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy and federal coordinator of the Digital Russia party project, told RIA Novosti about this on September 3.
"MAX, like any other application, works within the framework of standard rules and requests user permissions only for those functions that are really necessary for the service to work," he said.
According to Nemkin, the messenger requests the device to access the camera, microphone, geolocation and Bluetooth, which are standard application options and serve as part of the functionality. He denied rumors that MAX could allegedly make denunciations using artificial intelligence (AI).
The deputy also explained that MAX requires 63 permissions from the user, while the foreign WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) has 85 permissions, and Telegram — 71. Nemkin clarified that each permission is accompanied by an explanation where the user independently decides whether to grant access to the application. At the same time, he called MAX's access permissions to the phone's functions more modest compared to their foreign counterparts.
On August 29, it was reported that MAX launched a new feature in the form of instant recording and sending video messages in the format of circles. The maximum recording time for a mug is 60 seconds. So, to start using the service, you need to update the application.
