In Russia, the total length of highways has been calculated
The total length of highways in Russia is 4.4 million km. This was reported on September 3 by RIA Novosti with reference to statistical data.
This number includes federal highways, as well as roads of regional and interregional importance. It is noteworthy that the federal highways turned out to be only a small part of the overall road network.
Thus, according to the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the length of federal highways is more than 66.4 thousand km, of which 61.4 thousand km are under the jurisdiction of Rosavtodor, and the remaining 5 thousand km are under the trust management of the state—owned Avtodor company.
The note also provides statistics on the length of highways in two regions of the country — the first and the last alphabetically. In the Republic of Adygea, the length of highways is about 6.3 thousand km, and in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug — 5.7 thousand km.
Earlier, on August 30, it was reported that the Russian Government had established a toll road along the section of the M-3 highway "Ukraine". The toll on the highway will remain in effect until December 31, 2110. An alternative free ride will also be available.
On July 22, the State Duma in the third reading adopted a bill that grants the right of free passage on toll roads to vehicles of law enforcement agencies — the Rosgvardiya, the FSB and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
