- The latest Chinese military equipment was presented at the military parade in Beijing
The military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and victory over militaristic Japan in Beijing, which took place on September 3 and was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, became the largest in China's history. During the event, the latest developments of the Chinese military-industrial complex (MIC), including nuclear weapons, were presented.
It is noted that the leaders of 25 states were present at the main rostrum, which is located on the balcony of the Tiananmen Palace. The parade was attended by the presidents of Russia, Iran, Vietnam, Congo, Zimbabwe, Cuba, Kazakhstan, and Belarus. In addition to them, the leaders of Africa, Latin America and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) were also seen at the event.
In addition, Europe was represented by the leaders of Serbia and Slovakia, despite the fact that the authorities in Brussels and Tokyo had previously called for a boycott of the parade.
The main guest of the parade, who was next to Chinese President Xi Jinping, was Putin. Their places were located above the portrait of Mao Zedong. China and the Russian Federation share a common historical memory, as Russia has done a lot for the final victory over fascism and the end of World War II.
"History reminds people that the whole world is connected by common interests and a common destiny. Only when different countries and nations treat each other as equals, live in peace and harmony, will they be able to protect common security," Xi Jinping said.
As Igor Baldin, a correspondent for Izvestia, pointed out, it was the largest parade not only in China, but all over the world. 40,000 troops marched in Tiananmen Square, and soldiers and officers from 17 countries attended the event.
It is specified that among the Chinese pilots, infantrymen, and sailors there were also units that were introduced for the first time, in particular, the aerospace forces and cyber warfare.
The rehearsals for the parade lasted six months, and the general one lasted 11 hours, so all the movements were "honed" perfectly. Against this background, the Chinese women's division "Iron Roses" stood out, which became the decoration of the parade.
The spectacular part of the event was the departure to Tiananmen Square of more than 500 pieces of equipment, of which almost half are new. They also presented the latest electronic warfare (EW) systems and unmanned aerial vehicles, huge underwater drones weighing 500 kg and other types of weapons.
In addition, tanks, anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) and hypersonic missiles were presented at the event. All this is a reflection of the modern Chinese army, which has about 2.5 million soldiers and officers and is considered the largest in the world.
A military parade in Beijing took place earlier in the day. At the end of the celebration, 80,000 balloons and doves were released into the sky on Tiananmen Square in the city center, and the participants of the ceremony synchronously waved the national flags of the People's Republic of China.
Later, during a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, Putin said that the parade in Beijing was brilliant. The Russian leader stressed that the celebrations directly concern the Russian Federation, China and the DPRK, as these countries have made joint efforts in the common fight against Nazism, fascism and militarism.
