On September 1, RT hosted the premiere of the program "The Price of Empire", hosted by the head of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Indian Parliament, Shashi Tharoor (Imperial Receipts with Dr. Shashi Tharoor). The project is dedicated to a complex and sensitive topic for India: how British colonialism changed the country and how its effects are being felt today.

In ten episodes, the popular politician, diplomat and writer explores his country's past and debunks well-established myths about colonialism. Shashi Tharoor shows the true story of British rule in India: the looting, suppression and destruction of the centuries-old culture and economy of a huge nation, the transformation of one of the most ancient and original civilizations into a source of resources and cheap labor.

At the same time, the project not only tells the truth about the past, but also demonstrates how colonialism is reflected in modern political and economic realities, and asks questions about the present and the future. Who is paying what price for the ambitions of the West? Will the loot be returned? Why is understanding the consequences of British colonialism necessary for an honest conversation about the world order today?

"For 200 years, someone else has been deciding what you should be in the world. The last thing you want to do as an independent nation is to give up your right to have your own opinion," says the show's host Shashi Tharoor.

In mid-August, a special episode of the show was released, filmed in Moscow during Tharoor's visit to the Russian capital. In this issue, the politician answered questions from Russian and foreign students and international relations experts about India's history, politics and future, globalization and the new world order. Tharoor's visit to Moscow on the eve of the premiere of his show on RT was widely publicized in the Indian and world media and got into the trends of the Indian political X.
