The designer named the rules for combining gold jewelry with silver
Previously, mixing gold and silver was considered bad form, a sign of lack of taste and style. Jewelry, as well as accessories, had to strictly match each other in metal color. However, Irina Shamilova, the creator of the EIRINE jewelry house, gemologist and chief designer of the brand, explained in an interview with Izvestia on September 3 that this axiom is not entirely true nowadays.
"In fact, modern fashion doesn't just allow it — it welcomes and encourages a mix of different metals. This is the case when the fashion industry democratized strict rules, giving us freedom of expression and the opportunity to be unique," she said.
This became possible because fashion tends towards individuality, towards creating a complex, multi-layered image that tells a story. Wearing a yellow gold ring, passed down from generation to generation, along with a modern silver or white gold bracelet is the very personal story embodied in metal. This means that a person does not blindly follow the rules, but feels his things, his energy and creates his own unique style.
The key to a successful combination is a sense of proportion and an understanding of the overall mood of the image, the specialist noted. It is important to pay attention not only to the jewelry, but also to the accessories: the lock on the bag, the belt buckle, the buttons on the coat.
"If you're wearing a massive silver necklace and the jacket is fastened with large gold hardware, they may come into visual conflict. Try to make the metals "overlap". Gold hardware on shoes can become a brilliant accent supporting gold earrings, even if you have a silver watch on your wrist," suggested Shamilova.
For those who are just starting to experiment and have not yet decided on a contrasting combination of yellow and white, there is an elegant compromise — rose gold. This warm, cozy and romantic shade is the perfect link. It softens the transition, smoothes the contrast, and combines the cool sheen of silver and the rich warmth of yellow gold into a single harmonious composition. A rose gold ring, worn between silver and gold, does not look like an accident, but a thoughtful detail.
The only conditional rule is the balance. If you are wearing several pieces of jewelry of different colors, you should make sure that they look like an ensemble, and not as a random set. They can be united by style (for example, all products are vintage), design (geometric shapes), or even themes (marine motifs).
"The outdated "impossible" is a thing of the past. Today, the main trend is you and your uniqueness. Mix, experiment, wear silver with gold and create your own rules. After all, true luxury is the opportunity to be yourself," the designer concluded.
Nina Sergeeva, Commercial Director for Sunlight stones, gemology expert, told Izvestia on August 4 how not to lose a diamond cut depending on the shape and length of the fingers. According to her, for hands it is better to pay attention to square and rectangular cuts, such as "radiant" or "emerald". For miniature fingers, it is better to choose small diamonds so that they do not look bulky.
