Moskvich car sales decreased by 42% in August
Sales of Moskvich cars in Russia in August 2025 decreased by 42% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 1,124 units. This was reported on September 3 by TASS with reference to the press service of the capital brand.
For comparison, according to Autostat, in the last summer month of last year, the Moskvich automobile plant sold 1,9 thousand cars, of which more than 300 Moskvich 6 liftbacks and more than 80 Moskvich 3e electric vehicles.
In total, from January to August, Moskvich sold 9960 cars, while the market share remained at the level of last year, the press service of the car company indicated.
On August 20, it was reported that the Moskvich automobile plant may release a new crossover based on the British-Chinese MG brand model. With a body length of 4655 mm and a wheelbase of 2765 mm, the MG HS in the model range of the Russian brand can be located between the Moskvich 3 and the new Moskvich 8.
Sales of the Moskvich 8 crossover began in Russia on July 22. The basic version of the model was estimated at 2.98 million rubles. At the average performance level, the crossover costs from 3.21 million rubles, and at the maximum — from 3.37 million rubles. This is the fourth model of the revived brand after crossovers with indexes 3 and 3e, as well as liftback 6. In a month since the start of sales of the new model, Moskvich has sold 24 such crossovers.
