- Venezuela did not believe in the authenticity of Trump's video with the "boat of drug traffickers"
A video posted by US President Donald Trump on the Truth Social network with the alleged destruction of a Venezuelan drug traffickers ship may have been generated by artificial intelligence. This was announced on September 3 by Venezuelan Minister of Communications and Information Freddy Nianes.
"It seems that [US Secretary of State] Marco Rubio continues to lie to his president, putting him in a dead end — now he is giving him a video with artificial intelligence as 'proof'," Nunes wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
In his publication, the minister attached an artificial intelligence response from Google — Gemini. According to his conclusion, it is very likely that the video was created using AI, since the video lacks realistic details.
On August 28, it was reported that the United States had sent at least seven ships and a nuclear submarine with ballistic missiles to the shores of Venezuela. Tensions between the two countries have increased. It was also noted that most of the ships are equipped with Tomahawk missiles that can hit ground targets.
On September 2, it became known that the US military had destroyed a ship allegedly carrying drugs from Venezuela. It was noted that the Pentagon had to study the details of the incident. Later, Trump said that 11 people died as a result of the strike on the ship.
